What We Do
Making a Difference in our Communities
Kiwanis helps our communities in countless ways to fulfill the needs of our society. By working together, our members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone. Our main focus is working with youths to maximize their potential. When you give a child the chance to learn, experience, dream, grow, succeed and thrive, great things happen.
Our Worldwide Presence-Kiwanis International
Kiwanis International was founded in 1915 in Detroit, Michigan. Now in over 80 nations and with a network of service leadership programs, there are over 600,000 people working under the Kiwanis name. Our service leadership programs span from elementary school children through college students as well as adults with disabilities.
Local Network of Like-Minded Volunteers- Capital District
Kiwanis International is divided into districts which cover a large geographical area. The Kiwanis Club of Danville is a part of the Capital District which includes 185 Kiwanis clubs in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, District of Columbia and West Virginia. On a more local basis, our club with 9 other clubs in Bassett, Botetourt County, Forest, Lynchburg, Fort Hill, Martinsville, Roanoke, Salem, and Smith Mountain Lake form the 15th Division of the Capital District.
